Carmen Champion’s yoga journey began in the early 90s when she took her first Kundalini yoga class. What initially captivated her was the energy and temperament of her teacher, whose calm yet vibrant demeanor seemed to radiate peace and vitality. This experience planted the seed for Carmen’s lifelong love of yoga. Later, seeking relief from chronic lower back pain, Carmen discovered yoga’s powerful therapeutic benefits, which helped reduce inflammation and restore flexibility.
Carmen’s teaching style is dynamic, with a focus on pushing boundaries and testing limits in a way that’s exciting and rewarding. Carmen’s classes are often described as a rollercoaster ride—starting slow, full of twists and turns, and leaving students eager to jump back in for more. Her eclectic playlists, a mix of tunes from across decades, complement the energetic pace and mood of her classes, keeping the vibe fresh and inspiring.
Outside of yoga, Carmen enjoys the simple pleasures of life, including good art, good food, good wine, and immersing herself in nature. She’s drawn to the beauty of Houston’s Hermann Park and the Museum District, where she finds inspiration in the natural world and cultural experiences.
